In the early 1900s, the commute from Cleveland to Shaker Heights was long and arduous.  The Van Sweringens were convinced that the key to the suburb’s development success lay in the availability of public transportation.  Bill Barrow traces the history of Terminal Tower and the Shaker Rapid.
